What We Provide

TRANSITIONING FROM HOME TO DAYCARE:
Change can either be tough or a breath of fresh air depending on the child. We understand that this is a new beginning for everyone, family and child alike. Here are some tips that may help with this new stage in your child’s life:

-
we encourage you and your child to visit prior to their first day to become familiar with teachers and the other children

- say good bye to your child when you leave, this develops trust between yourself, your child and the teacher

- after parting gestures (hug, kiss, etc.) leave promptly, prolonged departures can become disruptive and unproductive

- no child will be left unsettled for any length of time without a teacher phoning the parent

- call us during operating hours to check in with how your child is adjusting, we’re happy to touch base and reassure

- your point of contact is the teacher assigned to your child he/she will provide daily communication with you

- it is normal for newly settled children to experience some separation regression

- comforting toys/blankets are welcome, however we cannot take responsibility for these items

DROP OFF & PICK UP
As part of our safety standards, Junior Junction has a strict drop-off and pick-up policy to help protect the children in our care. A responsible adult who is known to the Manager and Staff must bring children into the Centre. Only authorised persons (as indicated on the enrollment form) will be allowed to collect children from the Centre. Please notify the Manager in writing of any changes to the authorised persons. Any adult other than one known to the Centre will be required to show identification (preferably photographic). Parents with custody orders must provide a copy to the Manager.

ATTENDANCE
Parents must give at least a two-week notice before withdrawing their child from Junior Junction and a minimum of one-week notice to change your child’s session days. If your child is sick please call the center first thing in the morning, leave a message.

HOLIDAYS
We allow two weeks holiday free of charge per child per year AFTER your child has been enrolled for one year. These holidays must be taken in a minimum of one week blocks. Note that if the centre is closed over Christmas this is included in the two week holiday allocation. For more fee information go here.

MEALS
Our talented in-house chefs are the heart and soul of our centers. They’re passionate about healthy eating and create yummy snacks and lunches full of fruits and vegetables. As stated above, we provide morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Although Junior Junction follows the Healthy Heart Gold Star Standards (HHGS) closely, due to the diversity of our children and their cultural requirements it is not always possible to fully comply. The HHGS requires two servings of red meat per week which is not appropriate for children practicing cultural dietary practices that do not allow for red meat consumption. If your child has specific dietary needs, please let us know upon enrollment and we will make accommodations. Our meals are nut-free to prevent allergies.

INFANT FORMULA
Any infant formula given is of a type approved and supplied by the child’s parent/guardian. Infants under the age of 6 months and other children unable to drink independently are held when being fed a bottle.

SLEEPING
In the Baby/Toddler areas little beds are provided for sleeping. The children are constantly supervised and records of sleep times are kept. Beds are provided for any children over two who require an afternoon rest. All bedding is labelled so that it is specific to each child.

HEALTH & SAFETY
Health and safety is a top priority at Junior Junction! We ensure all policies and procedures are up to date and enforced. These include (but are not limited to) regular safety checks of all equipment, identification of and mitigation of any hazards and the safe storage of chemicals and hazardous items. Equally important is educating our children on personal safety matters such as walking inside, staying seated while eating, not throwing equipment and encouraging respectful caring behaviour at all times. A majority of center staff are trained in first-aid and attend all required course updates. To mitigate allergies, Junior Junction daycare’s are nut free.

ILLNESS
If your child is sick please call the center first thing in the morning, leave a message with staff or on the answering service. Children with any kind of infectious illness are required to be kept at home until the illness is no longer present. In the event of a child who is suspected of suffering from a disease or condition capable of being passed on to the children, and likely to have a detrimental effect on the children or staff if contracted by them, the management reserve the right to ask for a medical certificate stating that the individual is clear of any such illness.

IMMUNIZATIONS
If your child is immunized, please provide their Plunket book or documentation upon enrollment. We will photocopy their immunization chart that will be kept with your child’s enrollment form. If your child is NOT IMMUNIZED please let us know upon enrollment to ensure your child's safety and the safety of the other children. You will be notified if there is ever an infectious disease/illness in the centre.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Parent/guardian may provide a cake or treats to share. (Please talk to the centre cook reference children in the centre that may have allergies.) Note: No nut products
