Hadleigh Isaia is the head teacher in the Toddlers Room.

I have been working in Early Childhood Education for the past 10 years. I completed 2 years of my training through New Zealand Tertiary College and will complete my training next year. I am passionate about integrating science into all areas of the curriculum and enjoy being with the children as they make discoveries about themselves and their world.

Vision Statement

We appreciate the natural growth of our Toddlers as they learn self importance and self initiative through their play. As a teaching team we will facilitate this play by providing the tools, materials, support, and guidance that maximise opportunities for learning.

We have a commitment to work with our families to individualise experiences for our children.

Planning

In the toddlers room our planning system focuses on dispositional learning rather than topic based projects. This allows the planning to remain relevant to each child's emerging interests while still extending skills for individuals and groups.

When we observe a child or group of children engaged in a learning experience we write a learning story about what we have seen. These stories may also record conversations amongst the children and teachers, milestones reached and parent's voices obtained through conversations.
From these stories we then identify individual and group interests, individual and group dispositions, what we as educators can do to support these dispositions and possible experiences to extend skills.

From this our next activities are planned and implemented. The stories are displayed on our planning board and show the progression from one experience to another. The stories are also in the children's portfolios which are available to both the children and parents to view at any time.
