Planning profile

Within the preschool room we base our planning for the children on their emerging interests, we investigate to find elements to plan our next steps as teachers. Planning is a tool for teachers to research, and focuses their attention on the intentions and understanding of the children, as well as their own role in teachers experiences.  Documentation deepens teacher’s awareness of each child and groups progress. Based on planning teachers are able to make informed decisions about appropriate ways to support children’s development and learning.

How do we plan?

First the teachers carry our several observations to see what the children’s interests are once we find an interest the teachers then discuss and put in place opportunities and possibilities for the interest, goals, and activities. All of the information is displayed beautifully on our planning board including photographs of the children at play and learning stories document ting the children’s learning and development.

The preschool room also has a very special planning book for the parents and our families. This book is displayed outside the classroom and made available all the time for parents to be aware of the daily learning experiences made possible throughout their children’s time in the preschool room.

The aim of the planning book is to invite parents in and take them into an interesting, and amazing journey, to be a part of their children’s learning.

Head Teacher:

Claire Swann

I have over twenty years of experience in early childhood looking after various ages. I have taught and looked after children from new born to 18 year olds. My original training was as a nursery nurse and my degree was in a specialised subject of ‘early years education and childcare’. I believe that all children are unique individuals that require challenging experiences that will develop their self esteem and understanding of the world. I also feel that a happy parent means happy children so that early years professionals and parents should always work as a team.
